ANGLICAN CHURCHWOMEN OF ST. JOHN’S

                MISSION STATEMENT

 The Anglican Churchwomen of St. John’s is an organization within the church that unites women through worship, service, study and fellowship. Every woman of St. John’s is considered a member and is welcome to participate in all of its programs. Through this association, a woman avails herself of an opportunity to grow as an individual and as a member of a caring and supportive group.

The group is, first and foremost, a service organization.
Its aims are:

  • To chair the Flower, Prayer Chain and Hospitality Ministries;
  • To give personal assistance to those members of the congregation who have special needs, as the home-bound or ill, upon the advice of Bishop Brewer;
  • To welcome visitors and newcomers to the church;
  • To help those in need in the community;
  • To provide financial support to the parish and to selected out-reach projects;
  • To co-ordinate and organize fund raisers for the Church;
  • To assist with receptions and special parish events;
  • To share in the physical upkeep of the Church building and grounds.

Social and devotional activities are an integral part of the group. Each member brings unique gifts, skills, experiences, and interests which can be shared with the group, and which will help to determine the year’s programs. Some possibilities are:

  • A member-led devotional study;
  • A group discussion of a book;
  • A guest speaker on a topic of interest;
  • Short trips to a local museum, garden, or other;
  • Work on a special project;
  • A luncheon or afternoon tea held in Fellowship Hall for the whole membership;
  • Mini retreats for spiritual renewal held on a weekend day; or
  • A Bible study class.

Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of every month in Fellowship Hall from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. Members bring a brown-bag lunch. Trips and programs intended to attract those women who can not ordinarily attend on Wednesdays will be scheduled on weekends or holidays.
